What’s it all about?

The big question

Art and Ed meet in the vast empty realm of Limbo, the space between Heaven and Hell. They are joined by a small delivery robot that gained a part of a soul when he was crushed in a road accident. Through encounters with the dwellers of this land, they learn they need a third soul in order to move on to the next realm. Despite being unsure of their future, they discover the journey is better when travelled with friends, even if they are dead.

At some point in our lives, we all come to terms with our own mortality. While some may have this realization after becoming parents or experiencing the loss of a loved one, my lifelong friend and I had our moment of reckoning at the tender age of five. It was during a birthday sleepover, as we switched off the lights, that my friend casually bid me goodnight with the words, “See you in the morning.” To which I quipped, “You never know.” The resulting silence was thick with the weight of our mortality as we contemplated the great unknown. Over five decades later, we still wonder when the grim reaper will come knocking and what awaits us on the other side. This book is a humorous response to those years of fear-induced speculation, as two friends still gleefully scare each other with what might happen when the lights go out.
